Following its phenomenal success in Cambodia, “The Cremation”, a true-event horror feature by Sastra Film, is set to make its highly anticipated debut in Myanmar. Originally released on April 24, 2025, the film went viral across Cambodian audiences, earning widespread acclaim for its haunting visuals, emotional depth, and chilling realism.
Inspired by true events in Cambodia, “The Cremation” tells the tragic and terrifying story of Dani, a woman warned by doctors never to conceive due to a severe medical condition. Defying all odds, Dani becomes pregnant—but the joy is short-lived. She and her unborn twins tragically pass away. As the family delays her funeral in hopes of her husband's return, her spirit begins to manifest, unleashing a series of spine-chilling and unexplainable events. Monks and funeral staff soon realize they are not alone—Dani’s soul refuses to rest.
This remarkable production showcases the power of collaboration, vision, and storytelling. From pre-production to post-production, the passion of every team member shines through on screen. We are particularly proud to recognize the brilliant direction of Bun Chanpich, a rising visionary in cinematic films from Cambodia, as well as the tireless dedication of Mrs. Bun Channimol, whose leadership as producer has brought this masterpiece to both local and international audiences. Special thanks also go to the writer, Ngoeuy Bunrath, whose emotional depth and effort helped bring this true story to life, along with a beautiful screenplay.

With the film now making its way to Myanmar, we at Sastra Film are hopeful that it will resonate just as deeply with new audiences—delivering not only fear but also profound emotion and reflection.
We, Sastra Film, extend our gratitude to our amazing audience for helping this film go viral and reach international screens. We also thank the people of Myanmar for the stunning and beautiful scene.
